Saanvi's POV:

I am working but my mind is again and again drifting back to this morning. The way he was behaving, he doesn't behave that way.

What happened to him so suddenly? 

My eyes moves towards his cabin and I sigh. Why the hell is he not here. Why did he have to go to that stupid meeting, huff.

If he hadn't gone for a some work with bhai, I for sure would've gone and asked him. Sigh.

It's already 5.30, he told me to go home as he'll be late.

My work is already over so zi pack my things up.

"Hey Saanvi" Raunak, another intern, came to my cubicle "We all are going to Marine Drive, why don't you join us?"

Aaaa.. I want to say no as I want to go home already, but I haven't been there for more than a month.

"Sure, I'd love you" he smiled and gave a thumbs up to Mridula who squealed in happiness and came running to me. She hugged me tightly.

"I'm so excited. Finally you said yes for something" I laugh.

Marine Drive is just walking distance from here so we walk while having some chit chats.

Even some other interns joined us. This is the first time I am going out with them, and also talking with other for the first time.

We reached there and the sent of the sea hit me, making me feel at peace.

"Can you imagine guys, we only have 2 weeks left and then our internship will be over?" Mehek, one bubbly intern said.

It hit me then. Shit.

"Yeah. Can't believe it's coming to an end"

"What are your plans next?"

"Well I'm planning to......"

Their voices faded in my ears. All I could hear was that this internship is coming to an end and I'll have to leave him.

Will he still live with me after 2 weeks?

Will he still care for me after I leave?

Do I mean anything to him? I mean, whatever is going on between us, what does it mean?

Earlier we were enemies. It was easier. But ever since I went to his house and got sick, things changed between us.

But the question is still the same, what is between us? What are we?

This question leaves me out of answers, instead with a thumping heart.

"Saanvi?" I hear my name which startles me.

I look at my side and give a weak smile. "I'm sorry I zoned out. What were you saying?"

"It's okay bro. We were asking what are your plans after this internship" Amay asks.

"Umm I haven't thought of anything yet actually. The college is also over now, so maybe look for another internship or do freelancing until the graduation ceremony" I shrugged.

"Damn girl. How much work would you do? I saw your linked in, and the amount of certificates and experience is in it, just gave me trauma" Mehek laughed

"Well sorry Saanvi but I agree with Mehek. You're just tooo talented you know that right?" Raunak said.

I just shrugged "I don't think so. I still have so much to learn"

"Well you're learning from the best"

"And I'm sure that Nikhil sir will give you a permanent job"

I gave them a duh look and they all smirked. "What do you guys mean by that"

"Don't behave okay, we've seen the way two look at each other!"

"And how do we look at each other"

"Like you both are so much in love" they three said together.

My eyes widened, heartbeats rose, and felt something like butterflies in my tummy.

Are..we? I mean do we? Do I?

"That's rubbish guys" I look away from them but I feel my cheeks heated and heart, well it's beating like a just ran 5000 miles. Or more, damn it I don't know why it's beating like this.

"Yeah sure" they laughed.

They didn't bring this up again, which I'm really glad of. They really are good friends to me.

Is it that obvious? Am I tooo readable? Even he understands me without me saying anything.

Then..... why can't my family understand me? Why can't they see the years of pain I have? Why am I the bad one in their eyes........?

"Aa guys, I gotta go something came up" I just want to go home or I'll loose it.

"Yeah sure. Everything okay na?" Raunak asked and I nodded.

"Sorry Haa Saanvi if you felt bad of what we said"

"Yeah. We were just teasing you"

"It's your life and we are no one to say anything"

"He means we didn't mean to sound judgy we respect your privacy"

"Guys,  it's okay. And thank you for understanding" I laughed and hugged them "And did I tell you, you're the best people I met?" They also laughed.

I leave and again all those things surface my mind. Just then an idea clicks my mind, I quickly book a cab.

"Thank you bhaiya" I paid and stood in front of the gate.

"Asha Orphanage" my escape and leave for years now.

Before I could enter, my phone went off. I checked the caller and my smile fades.

Why is she calling me?

"Hello"

"Saanu?" I just hummed "How are you?"

I take a deep breath and gulp "I'm fine Di, how're you"

"I'm also good. So did you meet dad?"

"Of course, he'd have told you right, he tells you all everything"

"Yes he did.." we stayed silent for a minute

Why did she call me? Is everything alright? My sister wouldn't call me just like that, like she's missing me right?

"So how's internship?" Divya asked breaking the silence.

"It's good. Learning new things" I settle on the garden grass while talking.

"Of course you are. So when are coming home? Dad told me your internship ends soon"

"Aa I'm not sure. I was thinking..." she cut me off.

"Can't you just come home without showing any tantrums Saanvi?" Ane here we go. "Tane khabar che ke badha tamane ketali yada kare che?" (Do you even know how much everyone misses you)

"Oh please. Tamara juthum bolavani jarura nathi, mane khabar che ke ke hum avum ke na avum, koine farak padto nathi, to a nataka chodi do!" (You don't need to lie, i know no one cares if I come or not, so just leave this drama.)

"Why do you have to be like this Haa Saanvi? Why can't you for once be civil and understand things Haa?" She sounds frustrated.

"I am like this and oh whatever I do, I'll never be enough for you or your family. Or let's say I'll never be like Amika!"

"Why are you brining Amika in between Haa?"

"For fucks sake di, she has always in between" I almost shouted.

I got a really strange feeling, I felt as if someone is looking at me. I looked around but there was no one. My heart is having this weird feeling, like a bad one.

"Saanvi why do you have to be so distant ha you know..." her voice faded as I hear the sound of steps coming towards me. I'm having bad vibes right now, a wrong feeling.

I gulp hard and get myself ready to attack on the person.

I felt a presence behind me, then someone hugs me from behind.

"Ahhhhh" I scream, my phone slips from my hand, my heart beats so faster.

I instantly turn around to attack the person but I sigh seeing the face on the man.

"Heyy hey it's me" he cups my face seeing my horrified expression.

My heart is still thumping loudly, .y breathing is erratic and my whole body is shaking with the intensity of fear.

"Hey hey relax" I hug him instantly. "Shh kitten I'm here" he kisses my forehead.

"Nikhil" only my heart knows how safe I feel right now.

"I'm so sorry I scared you" I shake my head and hug him more tightly.

"Saanvi? Saanvi? Hello?" I head my sister's voice and realise that I was talking to her.

Breaking the hug I pick up the phone with shaky hands "Haa.. Haa Di I..I'm fine"

"Why did you scream, badhum barabar che ne?" (Everything is okay right?)

"Haa badhum barabar che, chinta na karo. I'll call you later okay" (Everything is fine, don't worry)

"Okay. Take care" humming I cut the call.

I lean on his chest and he kisses my temple. "Relax bacha."

"Saanvi?" I hear Meera aunty's voice.

I turn around to see her worried expression "What happened bacha why did you scream" she cupped my face.

"He scared me aunty" I pouted, feeling better now.

"He?" She raised a brow in his direction "Nikhil you shouldn't trouble my daughter like this" she shook her head at him

"Haww kaki you're taking her side huh"

"Haa kyuki tujhe janti hu na achese isliye" she patted his cheek.

"Wait you two know each other" I ask confused.

Just then I saw bhai bhabhi and the kids coming towards us.

"Saanvi I told you na that the owners are coming today" I remember her text but I forgot about it.

"Yeah I'm sorry aunty I totally forgot. Did they come or not"

She smiled and motioned in Bhai's direction"They're the owners. The Vermas"

"What?" I blink my eyes.

"Yes"

"Gilfrind" Veer's excited voice caught our attention. I saw him running in our direction with a big smile.

I crouch down and spread my arms for him. He comes crushing into me.

"Heyy my baby" he hugs me tightly and I smile. I picked him in my arms and stood up.

"I misshed you" he pouted.

I laughed and kissed his cheeks "I'm sorry baby, I got busy with work na"

"No me angly" he pouted and looked away.

I peppered him with kisses and he started giggling

I hear him clearing his throat. I looked at him and he was frowning and pouting looking at Veer. Actually he was glaring at Verr lime he stole something that's his.

"Stop hearing at my baby" I said laughing.

"Yes Nikhil, stop glaring the poor baby" bhai and bhabhi also laughed.

He huffed and hugged me from behind, hiding his face in my neck.

My eyes widened, heat creeps up my face at what he did. They both are looking at us with teasing glint. I'm glad that the kids are not here and Meera aunty also left.

"Nikhil everyone's looking" I whisper but he doesn't listen.

"Leve my gf ucle" Veer tries to push Nikhil away. (Leave my girlfriend umcle)

"Aye kiddo she's not your girlfriend okay"

"Yesh, she is mine" he said with a proud smile making Nikhil grit his teeth.

"Noo kiddo she's not yours, she's only mine" my heart skips a beat. I look at him with parted lips.

Veer kisses my cheek "see she is mne"

Nikhil kisses my other cheek "No she is mine"

They both started peppering my cheeks with kisses.

"Look at you three, looking like a perfect family" bhabhi said I hear bhai laughing.

I see bhabhi clicking a picture with a smile on her face.

"I didn't know you were such a baby Nikhil" bhabhi teased him and he whined

"I'm not bhabhi" she rolled her eyes.

"Let's give these kiddos space Saurabh" they both go away, leaving the three of us.

"Hmm so you kiddo, she is not yours okay, she is mine and it remains that way" Nikhil threatened Veer. God what is he saying, does he even realise his words or not?

"Noooooooooooooo uncle" Veer showed Nikhil his little finger "she ish my gf, yu shty awy" (she is my girlfriend, you stay away)

Nikhil tried to bite his little finger making Veer laugh.

I again felt someone looking at us. I looked around but again, there is no one.

"Okay stop my babies. I am both of yours okay?" I glare at the know and they both nod.

"Hmm so now no more fighting okay" Veer giggles and nods.

I look at Nikhil to answer. He doesn't say anything so I raise a brow.

He covers Veer's eyes and he quickly steals a kiss. My eyes widens.

Damn, at this point I don't even remember how many times my eyes widened today and my heartbeats rose.

"Let's go everyone is waiting" he winks at me.

He takes Veer and holds my hand and we go to join everyone else in the other side.
